About Us
Kuibuka is a project developed by Mūmbi Kīgūtha, Dr Rocio Figueroa and Lisa Spriggens to equip religious sisters across Africa to support safeguarding within their communities and stand against the abuse experienced.
We are committed to working with women religious in leadership positions to bring awareness to the topic of abuse and empower them to resist and fight against injustice and institutional violence, becoming agents of change in their communities.

Since our pilot programme in 2023, in Nairobi, Kenya we have delivered workshops in Ghana, Zambia, and Rwanda, with 103 participants attending. Participants of these workshops have come from 70 different congregations across Africa and 19 different countries. These participants have taken their learning from the workshops back into their communities, reaching over 1700 other women religious across Africa.
During this time, Kuibuka has expanded from a team of three facilitators to a team of nine, as we train and develop co-facilitators to support the delivery of these workshops.
